Leader of the Tyrolean uprising movement of 1809, he is considered a freedom fighter against the Bavarian and French occupation of his homeland. Locally, Hofer is often honored - especially by the German-speaking population - with numerous monuments as a folk hero and, in a glorified way, also as a national hero.

Monumental natural stone base with mighty bronze eagle holding the laurel wreath (Ehrenkranzl) in the griffins. Below bronze relief Andreas Hofer from 1959. The stately monument was erected in 1909 and is under monumental protection.
