Description:
Enjoy a wonderful hike starting from the charming village of Schattwald, through the Stuibenbach Valley, and up to the Bscheißer.Directions:
The starting and ending point is the lift parking lot at the Wannenjochbahn in Schattwald. At the eastern end of the parking lot, past the Kneipp facility, the “
” trail leads across a narrow footbridge and then immediately turns right to begin the ascent. After crossing the stream once, the well-maintained gravel path winds its way up through the
Stuibenbach Valley, partly through the forest. At the valley station of the Stuibenlift, the gravel path heads north, joining the paved trail to the Stuiben-Sennalpe after a short distance.
From the Sennalpe, there is a hiking trail up to the “Güntle,” the saddle between Ponten (left) and Bscheißer (right). From the Güntle to the summit of the Bscheißer, it’s
not far from there. The border between Austria and Germany runs directly along the summit. The descent down to Oberer Stuiben (no hut), continuing into the Stuibental valley
and back to Schattwald is well-marked and quite an enjoyable walk.Tip:

A cozy stop at the Stuibenalpe to enjoy a hearty snack platter.
