Description:

For demanding bikers, there are 15 bike routes totaling 150 kilometers, which have been approved by the State of Tyrol and uniformly signposted. Additionally, the Tannheimer Tal is the starting point for the newly designed "Bike Trail Tirol." The large circular route with over 800 kilometers and many connecting sections with another 500 kilometers are designed so that bikers can create their own personal trail.
Bike paths away from the roads
You can explore the surroundings on the "Radwanderweg Tannheimer Tal," which passes the most beautiful corners of the Tyrolean high valley over 40 kilometers. The bike paths are away from the federal road and uniformly signed. Via Schattwald towards Rehbach, you reach Ober- and Unterjoch in the Allgäu - linger a moment at the moor pond "Floschen." Or pedal through Tannheim and Grän further on the new lakeside promenade at Haldensee to Nesselwängle. A detour to the Vilsalpsee nature reserve will surely please you.
The Tannheimer Tal bike & mountain bike map
The Tannheimer Tal bike & mountain bike map features a total of 15 routes, color-coded and numbered. The route descriptions, elevation profiles, length, and difficulty levels of each route are on the back. All routes can be combined and are clearly signposted. Additionally, MTB tours from neighboring regions are also shown. The blue-marked routes are for leisure riders. Red-marked routes are medium difficulty, and the black marking is a sporting challenge.
The bike & mountain bike map can be purchased for €8.90 from the Tannheimer Tal tourism association.
Follow the color....
The right mix is key - this also applies to the mountain bike offer in the Tyrolean Tannheimer Tal. Those who pedal here have a choice between 15 routes and more than 300 mountain bike kilometers for every skill and fitness level. All routes are combinable and clearly signposted.
Blue route - easy
Mountain bike beginners or confident road riders as well as e-bikers follow the blue signs in the Tannheimer Tal. The consistently well-ridable paths have only minimal incline and are ideally suited for family outings in the saddle, where monotony definitely does not occur: for example, the Kneipprundweg offers a refreshing descent, depending on your mood. After all, the nearly six kilometers and 198 meters of elevation are pedaled much more easily with well-blooded legs.
Red route - medium difficulty
Those who see red in the Tannheimer Tal will be pleased. These are medium-difficulty and scenically stunning mountain bike routes that require sporty riding skills and especially defensive riding behavior. Scenic tour tip: On the approximately 11-kilometer-long "Haldenrunde," bikers cover almost 500 meters of altitude and are rewarded, upon arrival at the mountain hotel Zugspitzblick, with a broad view over the Tannheimer Tal and the mountains Rote Flüh and Gimpel, the landmarks of the Tyrolean high valley. With good visibility, the view even extends to Germany's highest mountain.
Black route - difficult
In total, 3 routes are classified as difficult - not least because of their length - and require stamina and mountain biking experience. Like the route to Raaz Alpe, where 47 kilometers and 1,512 meters of altitude await the mountain bikers. The diversity of the Tyrolean high valley is evident on the "Talumrundung": over 67 kilometers and 1,280 meters of altitude, the route offers the full spectrum of mountain biking. By the way, bikers can join or leave the "Tour de Tannheimer Tal" at any point.
---> Tip: The Tannheimer Tal is the starting point for the Bike-Trail-Tirol, the longest continuous circular route for mountain bikers in the Alpine region with 1,000 kilometers.

Directions:

The starting point of the route is the Berg parking lot in Tannheim. The route initially runs northwards on the winding asphalt road through the hamlet of Berg up to the Grubenstadel. Afterwards, the path leads on a forest road through open woodland and meadows to the highest point of the route at just under 1,500 m: the wild romantic Lohmoos with impressive views of the mountain panorama of the Allgäu Alps. At the next junction, keep left and follow the route over the "Obere Halde", past the mountain hotel "Zugspitzblick" on the asphalt road with a few hairpin bends to Zöblen. The last section then leads gently through meadows at the foot of the slope back to the starting point in Tannheim.

Tip:

The Lohmoos is a very beautiful raised bog that invites you to linger.

Safety guidelines:

It should be noted that mountain biking carries an increased risk of accidents and injuries. Despite careful route planning, a basic risk always remains. Preparing for the route through endurance sports, appropriate technical training and education as well as personal caution reduces the risk of accidents and dangers. But never forget that the weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Stay on marked paths.
Ride "on the safe side" in the Tannheimer Tal
In Austria, mountain biking is generally prohibited on all forest and hiking trails by law, except for explicitly authorized mountain bike routes. The entrances to forest roads are sometimes marked with driving ban signs and additional information such as "cycling prohibited". Hiking trails do not bear these prohibition signs; nevertheless, riding on them is forbidden.

Equipment:

Your personal equipment must be safe, functional, and meet the current technical standards. Every mountain biker is advised to inform themselves about the planned routes through specialist literature or locally.
Complete mountain bike equipment is absolutely recommended even for experienced riders!
