Friedberger via ferrata
Information & interesting facts
The Friedberger via ferrata connects the Schartschrofen and the Rote Flüh (2,111 m) and is one of the classics in the Tannheimer Tal. It is varied, mostly of medium difficulty (B/C,1-), with some exposed sections, traverses, and short ladders. The via ferrata runs along a beautiful ridge and offers impressive views down into the valley and onto the Haldensee.

A wonderful fixed rope route in the Tannheim "Dolomites". Enjoy a breathtaking view of the Tannheimer Tal. From the Füssner Jöchle via the Schartschrofen into the via ferrata. During the climbing tour itself you don't notice much of the outside world - but during the breaks, when you need to catch your breath, the view over the panorama of the Alps is a real gift. At the top, it is hard to describe the feeling with which the climber enjoys his own performance and the world of the mountains.Directions:
Ascent
The starting point is the top station of the Füssener Jöchle gondola in Grän. From there, follow a marked path in about 45 minutes to the entry point. Alternatively, you can also ascend from Nesselwängle via the Tannheimer Hut and the Rote Flüh (approx. 3–3.5 hours).
Descent
After the end of the via ferrata, the same path leads either back to the Füssener Jöchle top station (approx. 2 hours) or down via the Tannheimer Hut and Gimpelhaus to Nesselwängle. This way, the route can be flexibly arranged as a circular route.
Tip:This route is also very well suited as a circular route.
Safety guidelines:Please note that mountain sports entail an increased risk of accidents and injury. Despite careful route planning, a basic risk always remains. Preparation through endurance training, appropriate technical training and further education, as well as personal prudence reduce the risk of accidents and dangers. But please never forget that weather in the mountains can change very quickly.
Stay on the marked hiking paths.
Complete via ferrata equipment (via ferrata set, harness, and helmet) is absolutely recommended even for experienced climbers!
Personal mountain sports equipment must be safe, serviceable, and meet the relevant technical standard. Every hiker is advised to inform themselves about the planned routes in alpine specialist literature or on site.
