Description:
The Vilsalpsee nature reserve is one of the special treasures of the Tannheimer Valley region: home to many animals and plants, many of them rare and protected. A natural paradise with a picturesque scenery – and for many years a popular destination for visitors from all over the world.
From the tourist information in Tannheim head south along the cleared road to Lake Vilsalpsee.
The road is closed to general traffic from Schmieden between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in both directions. Coaches get an entrance/exit ticket at the Tannheim municipality or the tourist office in Tannheim with a valid reservation confirmation (only combined with consumption) at one of the two guesthouses - Gasthaus Vilsalpsee or Café Bistro Haubentaucher. Disabled persons receive a ticket for the return trip with their own car upon presentation of a valid severe disability card with the symbols "G" and "H" on the back. Tickets are available during opening hours at the information office in Tannheim and at the Tannheim municipality.
You have the option to reach Lake Vilsalpsee by carriage, public bus (only in the summer season), or the Alpenexpress. Detailed information is available at all offices of the tourism association.

Directions:

Start from parking lot P1 through the village, past the Maria-Hilf chapel, 500 m after the barrier there is the possibility to turn right onto the forest path. This path is not cleared. The road leads directly to Lake Vilsalp.

Tip:

Easy hike, suitable for everyone.

Safety guidelines:

It should be noted that winter hiking also carries an increased risk of accidents and injuries. Especially in winter, special attention should be paid to the condition of the paths. Suitable clothing, good footwear, and if necessary hiking poles provide additional safety. Stay on the marked paths.

Equipment:

Modern and well-maintained equipment (shoes, poles, and clothing) not only provides a considerable degree of safety but also makes winter hiking much easier. Sun protection (high protection factor and possibly sunglasses) as well as enough fluids should not be forgotten.
