Description:
The challenging summit tour starts in Nesselwängle and first leads through beautiful mixed forest to the cozy Schneetalalm. From there, the route continues via alpine paths and the Judenscharte up to the Rote Flüh (2,108 m). Some passages are secured with wire ropes, so surefootedness and a head for heights are required.
The descent initially follows the same route back to below the Rote Flüh. The route then continues to the Gimpelhaus, which is ideal for a leisurely stop. From there, the route follows the hiking trail and several hairpin bends back down to Nesselwängle.Directions:
The hike begins in Nesselwängle, above the church, and heads north-east. Shortly after the village is the signpost to the Schneetalalpe. The gravel path is moderately steep and easy to walk on. At the two forks in the path, we keep right and then reach the Schneetalalpe relatively quickly. We walk a short distance back along the same path towards the Gimpelhaus. At the first fork in the path we go straight on, at the second left. Under the rock massif of the Tannheimer Gruppe we reach the Tannheimer Hütte. Next to the hut, the signpost points to the right. On the Emne, a small plain below the rock massif of the Gimpel, an iron cross has been erected. It is the old summit cross of the Gimpel and serves as a memorial to those who died in an accident. The path climbs gently at first, then more steeply up to the summit - the Rote Flüh has been climbed. After a long rest, we descend the same way. This time, however, we keep to the path to the Gimpelhaus, which we reach after a short descent. Imposing rock faces in the background, which are ideal for climbing, and the view far into the Tannheimer Tal give the hike a visual appeal. The descent is quite entertaining. A few steps and serpentine turns quickly lead us back to the starting point.Tip:
A stop at one of the huts (Schneetalalm, Tannheimer Hütte and Gimpelhaus) is highly recommended.Safety guidelines:
It should be noted that there is an increased risk of accidents and injuries in mountain sports. Despite careful tour planning, there is always a basic risk. Tour preparation through endurance sports, appropriate technical training and advanced training as well as personal prudence reduce the risk of accidents and risks. However, please never forget that the weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Stay on the marked hiking trails.Equipment:
