Description:
This challenging mountain bike tour starts at Haldensee and initially leads over asphalt and gravel past the parking lot at the lakeside resort. The first ascent to the Edenbachalm soon awaits, where you can take a break in the mountain hut.

The route continues on steep gravel paths to the Strindenalpe, always accompanied by alpine scenery. After a few more meters in altitude, you reach the Gappenfeldalpe at 1831 m, the highest point of the tour. Here you can enjoy magnificent views, for example from the nearby Strindenscharte. The return journey follows the same route.


With an altitude difference of 848 m over 18 km and predominantly gravel paths, this tour requires a very good level of fitness, experience and safe riding skills. Numerous vantage points such as the Haldensee viewpoint and rustic mountain huts provide moments of enjoyment.

As this is a shared cycle and hiking trail, we ask that you treat each other with respect in order to avoid accidents and ensure the safety of all users.

Riding on the "safe side" in the Tannheimer ValleyIn Austria, mountain biking is generally prohibited by law on all forest and hiking trails, with the exception of mountain bike trails that have been expressly approved for this purpose. The entrances to forest roads are sometimes marked with no-cycling signs and additional information such as "No cycling". Hiking trails do not have these prohibition signs, but it is still forbidden to ride on them.Equipment:

Getting there
Take the B199 into the Tannheimer Tal and continue to Haldensee. The starting point is right by the lake in the village of Haldensee.
Public Transit
The Tannheimer Tal can be reached by bus. Get off at the bus stop in Haldensee and ride your bike to the starting point at the lake.
Parking
Park at the paid parking lot at Seebad Haldensee - ideal for a direct start to the tour.
