Mountains in flames
Sacred Heart Fire
The Sacred Heart bonfire in the Tannheimer Tal has been an important custom for over 200 years, commemorating the resistance against Napoleon's troops in 1796. Every year, the inhabitants light elaborate fires in the shape of crosses, praying hands or hearts to symbolise the solidarity of the Tyroleans. This tradition reflects the cultural awareness of the people who preserve history and customs.
