It doesn’t always have to be skiing, snowboarding, or cross-country skiing. On nearly 81 kilometers of cleared paths, hikers roam through the snow-covered fairytale landscape. Cozy huts along the way invite you to stop in. Sitting by the fireplace, warming up with a Jaga tea or strengthening yourself with a snack for the next kilometers – that’s how you can fully enjoy snowy walks.
Because along the approximately 81 kilometers of cleared hiking trails, there is so much to discover and see, so much fresh air to breathe, that every step becomes a pleasure
– with inns and cafés along the routes providing ample opportunities to refresh and warm up. Those wanting a special experience can join a guided snowshoe hike. For those wanting to reach new heights, the Tannheimer Tal offers two options to summit even in winter: the Neunerköpfle in Tannheim with the largest summit register in the Alps or the Gamskopf with the panorama informer in Grän.Directions:
The winter hike starts in the town center and initially goes along the street towards Pfeiffermühle. At the beginning of town, turn left towards Sorgalpe. After about 300 meters, a right turn follows that leads to the main road. This is crossed, then continue along the Wertach river to the campsite in the Habsbichl district. Continue to the inn where the road is crossed to continue towards the swimming pool. Those who want can return to the town center or follow the marking to the left to reach Gießenschwand.
Safety guidelines:It should be noted that there is also an increased risk of accidents and injuries when winter hiking. Especially in winter, special attention must be paid to path conditions. Suitable clothing, good footwear, and possibly hiking poles provide additional safety. Keep to the marked trails.
Equipment:Modern and well-maintained equipment (shoes, poles, and clothing) not only provides a considerable level of safety but also greatly facilitates winter hiking. Sun protection (high protection factor and possibly sunglasses) as well as enough fluids should not be forgotten.
