Environmentally friendly and convenient: Pedelecs in the Tannheimer Tal
In the Tannheimer Tal, there is no excuse not to explore the Tyrolean holiday region by bike: Pedelecs allow vacationers of all ages and fitness levels to pedal with more or less effort. "With the two-wheeled, hybrid vehicles, as pedelecs are called in technical jargon, as well as the electric scooters, we have not only expanded our offer for guests and locals but also taken a big and important step towards climate-friendly mobility," said Michael Keller, managing director of the Tannheimer Tal tourist association. The electric motors are powered by eco-electricity from hydropower and are therefore carbon neutral.
A pedelec bike reaches a speed of up to 25 kilometers per hour and is ideal for relaxed rides in the scenic Tannheimer Tal: For example, the "Bike path Tannheimer Tal" crosses the holiday region almost without elevation over its entire length of 20 kilometers. Important to know: With a pedelec, an electric motor supports the rider's pedaling power – it does not replace it. The rider's physical effort is therefore still required, only the strength of the electronic assistance can be adjusted in three different levels. No one has to hurry on a ride with the pedelec: The electric motor's battery lasts up to 100 kilometers.
Behind the garage of the company Zitt towards southwest in the direction of Tannheim. Following the signs, past Tannheim and further to Zöblen. In Zöblen, through the underpass and along the right side of the stream to Schattwald. At the district Kappl, turn right uphill, and immediately left again. On the north side of the Vilsschlucht, following the signs, over the Kappler Berg the path leads to the managed alpine pasture "Kalbele Hof". Continuing through the Vils valley along the Vils over the state border to Pfronten. Past the Vilstal sawmill and an old mill with a museum as well as a park, through Pfronten. Crossing the road into the Tannheimer Tal once, we follow the gravel path through the beautiful forest, leaving the Fallmühle on the right, through the Engetal to Grän to the starting point. The route over the Kappler Berg is somewhat steeper, the Vils valley and also the Engetal descend or ascend moderately.
Tip:A very beautiful circular route, which can also still be extended.
Safety guidelines:It should be noted that there is an increased risk of accidents and injury in bike sports. Despite careful route planning, a basic risk always remains. Route preparation through endurance training, appropriate technical training and further education as well as personal prudence reduce the risk of accidents and dangers. But please never forget that the weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Stay on the marked paths.
Ride on the "safe side" in the Tannheimer Tal
In Austria, mountain biking is generally prohibited by law on all forest and hiking trails, except for explicitly released mountain bike routes. Entrances to forest roads are sometimes marked with driving ban signs and additional information such as "Cycling prohibited". Hiking trails do not display these prohibition signs, but riding on the trails is nevertheless forbidden.
Personal equipment must be safe and usable and meet the respective technical standard. Every e-biker is recommended to inform themselves in specialist literature or on site about the planned routes. Full equipment is absolutely recommended even for experienced riders!
