Moderately difficult, approximately 3-hour winter hike on various trail surfaces from Jungholz to the Reuterwanne over the Alpe Stubental and back. Well signposted, the tour always leads to the destination. Upon reaching the intermediate goal (summit Reuterwanne), you can enjoy the view: To the south, the Wertach valley, the summit of Sorgschrofen, and the peaks of Gaishorn, Großer Daumen, Grünten, and the Wertacher Hörnle are visible. To the north, you look into the pre-Alpine Allgäu with Kempten, and a view towards the east reveals the Ostallgäu and, in the distance, the Zugspitze. After a short break and enjoying the great view, continue towards Stubental Alp. Once there, you can take the direct paved road down to the destination (Langenschwand car park) through Jungholz’s natural surroundings.Directions:
The starting point is the car park in Langenschwand in Jungholz. We turn directly at the small chapel onto the Höhenweg (gravel path). After reaching the snowmaking pond, we turn right onto the path to the Reuterwanne (signposted). Following the path past the lower Reuterwanne, we reach the intermediate goal, the summit of the Reuterwanne, after about 1.5 to 2 hours. After a short break and enjoying the view, we first walk a short distance back; at the Upper Reuterwanne Alp we take the left fork toward Alpe Stubental (also signposted). Here we always follow the good signage and soon arrive at Alpe Stubental. From there we walk the paved road (also usable as a toboggan run in winter) back to the destination, the car park in Langenschwand.Tip:
Enjoy the view after a small effort. For some fun, toboggan down from Alpe Stubental.Safety guidelines:
