Cows and young cattle return from the mountain pastures
Colourful cattle drives in the Tannheimer Tal
Customs and history can be found everywhere in the Tannheimer Tal: one tradition that is known far beyond the borders of the valley and takes place every autumn is the cattle drive. At the end of the summer, the cows return from the mountain pastures down to the valley. The cattle drives are all impressive spectacles that attract many visitors to the ‘most beautiful high valley in Europe’.



Cattle drive & small Jungholzer market
From 9:00 a.m. Weißwurst breakfast in the festival tent, 9:30 a.m. Welcome on the church square by the brass band. Approx. 10:00 a.m. arrival of the Alpen Älpele & Stubental. From 11:00 a.m. MK Jungholz, 1:30 p.m. Alphorn players, 2:00 p.m. “Huttis Böhmische Musikanten.” Food and drink will be provided – the Jungholz Volunteer Fire Department looks forward to seeing you there!
Cattle drive Grän-Haldensee
From 11:00 a.m., morning pint in the marquee above the Burgschenke restaurant. From 1:00 p.m., the cattle from the Edenbachalm, Strindenalpe, and Gräner Ödenalpe are expected. At 6:30 p.m., honors and bell award ceremony, bell auction. Food, drink, and great entertainment with the “Alpenstreuner” and the “Quintett 2000” will be provided. The Grän Rural Youth Association looks forward to seeing you there.
Cattle drive Nesselwängle at the fire station
From 11:00 a.m. morning pint with “Grenzgmischt.” From 2:00 p.m. arrival of the decorated cows from the Schneetalalm, Krinnenalpe, and Nesselwängler Edenalpe, followed by entertainment with the “Lumpen Mander” from the Zillertal. At 6:30 p.m., bell handover & raffle. Heated tent, bouncy castle, stands – food & drink will be provided. The Nesselwängle Rural Youth Association looks forward to seeing you there!
Cattle drive Schattwald below the community center.
From 11:00 a.m., morning pint with the Schattwald band. At around 1:30 p.m., the decorated cows and then the young cattle are expected to arrive from the Stuibenalpe. The Schattwald Volunteer Fire Department looks forward to seeing you there.
Cattle drive Tannheim
From 11:00 a.m., entertainment with “Grenzwertig Böhmisch” in the festival tent at the lift parking lot. From 1:00 p.m., the cattle are expected from the Usseralpe, the Älpele, the Obere Rossalpe, the Vilsalpe, the Obere Traualpe, the Gappenfeldalm, and the Heimweide Unterhöfen. From 6:00 p.m., entertainment with “Die Chefs.” At 8:00 p.m., honoring of the alpine farmers with bell presentation & auction. Food and drink will be provided – the Tannheim Rural Youth Association looks forward to welcoming many visitors!
