Man in traditional costume leads decorated cow through a village during the cattle drive

Cows and young cattle return from the mountain pastures

Colourful cattle drives in the Tannheimer Tal

Customs and history can be found everywhere in the Tannheimer Tal: one tradition that is known far beyond the borders of the valley and takes place every autumn is the cattle drive. At the end of the summer, the cows return from the mountain pastures down to the valley. The cattle drives are all impressive spectacles that attract many visitors to the ‘most beautiful high valley in Europe’.
