Tyrolean Cross-Country Skiing Seal of Quality
For two decades, the Tyrolean provincial government has been awarding the Tyrolean Cross-Country Skiing Seal of Quality to cross-country ski trail operators who meet certain criteria.
The Tannheimer Valley is a ‘cross-country skiing paradise’. This is not only the opinion of the ADAC Ski Guide 2008, which nominated the region as one of the top 10 ski areas in the Nordic/cross-country skiing category. The province of Tyrol also awarded it a special distinction: the ‘Tyrolean Cross-Country Skiing Seal of Quality’. This is valid for three years and criteria such as the number of trails, preparation, orientation and marking are regularly checked.
With a 140-kilometre network of trails and a maximum altitude difference of 50 metres, the Tannheimer Valley offers ideal cross-country skiing conditions. The trails are suitable for both classic and skate skiing and offer the right challenges for cross-country skiers of all abilities.
Directions:The cross-country circuit starts at the Nesselwängle Sports Centre. The route first heads south-east along the centre and past the car park before we glide through an underpass. We continue to the right across the Weitmoos, where a loop finally takes us back to the starting point to the west.Tip:
Refreshments are available directly at the lift car park at the Landgasthof Schuster.Safety guidelines:
Please observe the FIS rules of conduct for cross-country skiers!
A safe command of the equipment, even in poor snow conditions, and good physical condition are basic requirements for cross-country skiing. Choosing the right speed – adapted to your skiing ability and level of fatigue – greatly reduces the risk of accidents and injuries.
Stay on the route: all the tours described here follow groomed trails. Therefore, do not deviate from the route.
The Tannheimer Valley trail map makes it easier for you to plan your tours, shows the distances and makes it easier to estimate the running time.
Equipment:Modern and well-maintained equipment (skis, bindings, boots, poles and clothing) not only provides a considerable degree of safety, but also makes cross-country skiing much easier. Sun protection (high protection factor and possibly sunglasses) and sufficient fluids should not be forgotten.Additional information:
