The cycle path Tannheimer Tal leads along a scenic and varied 20 km long stretch from Nesselwängle to Schattwald and is signposted with green signs. Here you cycle on asphalt paths, except along the Haldensee (southern shore and promenade path). The course off the main roads on agricultural and forestry goods roads allows for easy cycling, while at the same time special caution is required when crossing main roads and consideration for pedestrians is requested. From Haldensee to Schattwald, the route has a barely noticeable gradient of 50 m, and there are no major or long gradients to negotiate.
There are no exact directions for this tour, you can start your tour as you like. The cycle paths of the Tannheimer Tal offer innumerable possibilities to start your tour.
There are many places to stop along the entire tour. Bicycle rental and repair is possible several times along the entire tour.
Tour preparation through endurance sports, appropriate technical training and further education as well as personal prudence reduces the danger of accidents and risks. But please never forget that the weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Stay on the marked trails.
Drive on the "safe side" in the Tannheimertal
In Austria, mountain biking is generally prohibited by law on all forest and hiking trails, with the exception of mountain bike trails expressly approved for this purpose. The entrances on forest roads are sometimes marked with signs prohibiting driving and additional information such as "Cycling prohibited". Hiking trails do not have these prohibition signs, but it is still forbidden to ride on the trails.
The personal equipment must be safe and serviceable and meet the relevant technical standards. Every cyclist is recommended to obtain information about the planned tours from specialist literature or on site.
