Tannheim - Höfersee - Vilsalpsee
Quality of experience: ****
- Refreshment stops available
Take the asphalt road westwards, then turn left at the first junction. After a short ascent you reach the bridge over the Älpeler Bach. Continue on the gravel forest path up to the Höfersee. After about 300m turn right. The gravelled meadow path leads to Zöblen. At the bus stop bus shelter turn right onto the main road. After approx. 150m turn left into the village of Zöblen, uphill towards Obere Halde. Follow the signs, turn right towards Tannheim. At the camping site turn left, uphill into the forest and further to Berg, a district of Tannheim. Above the houses further to the Schäferhütte, there left uphill to Grän. Shortly before Grän turn right, downhill, always on the asphalt road, once changing the side of the stream, we reach the sports field. Continue left, along the brook, then right over the bridge and to the underpass. After the sawmill turn right and follow the signs towards Tannheim. At the lifts in Tannheim sharp left, direction Vilsalpsee. From Vilsalpsee to Tannheim we drive on the road. Again in Tannheim turn left to the grotto and further on to the car park.
Beautiful, but a bit demanding tour. Many possibilities for a rest or a stop with good viewpoints.
It should be noted that there is an increased risk of accidents and injuries in bike sports. Despite careful route planning, a basic risk always remains. Tour preparation through endurance sports, appropriate technical training and further education as well as personal prudence reduces the risk of accidents and injuries. But please never forget that the weather in the mountains can change very quickly. Stay on the marked trails.
Drive on the "safe side" in the Tannheimertal
In Austria, mountain biking is generally prohibited by law on all forest and hiking trails, with the exception of mountain bike trails expressly approved for this purpose. The entrances on forest roads are sometimes marked with signs prohibiting driving and additional information such as "Cycling prohibited". Hiking trails do not have these prohibition signs, but it is still forbidden to ride on the trails.
The personal equipment must be safe and serviceable and meet the relevant technical standards. Every e-biker is advised to obtain information about the planned tours from specialist literature or on site. Complete equipment also recommended for experienced riders
