Alpstern-Trophy in Tannheimer Valley

Interdisciplinary event seeks to excite winter sports fans

In this competition, team spirit is the focus. In the Alpstern Trophy on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 in Zöblen, teams of four go to the start, and will compete in the disciplines of alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski touring and cross-country in a relay race. The start is at 4.30 pm. The snowboarders start in a mass start at the mountain station in Zöblen (Rohnenlift and hand over to the touring skiers at the base station Schattwald, who head up to the "Talabfahrt" Schattwald to the "Stuibenkreuzung". Here, they hand over to the skiers who after the downhill run, pass it on to the cross-country skiers at the valley station Schattwald. The winner is the team who is closest to the mean time of all teams.

Competitiveness is not to dominate the Alpstern Trophy. All ages and fitness levels should get involved with the intention to do their best for themselves and their team. The mixture of participants makes the Alpstern Trophy an event hitherto unheard of in the Allgäu and the Tannheim Valley and is a unique experience for participants and spectators alike. Each team consists of four participants, each with a snowboarder, a ski tourer, an alpine skier and nordic skating skier. The race starts with a mass start and runs through the ski area of Zöblen to Schattwald. Participants may complete the race freely, they merely have to orientate themselves with the set direction gates. The handing-off to the next teammate takes place in predetermined handover zones. The winning team will be crowned as the group that comes the closest to mean time. For an entertaining conclusion of the event, there is an awards ceremony followed by a  party.
